Phase Two: Outreach

Day One: We just got back from our first day on outreach. I have a migraine but it was a good day. Cooked for over a hundred people and then visited a remote village. We cooked a lot of rice and pork and cabbage. And then we visited homes to talk with and pray with people. We visited a 95 year old woman who chops her own wood and lives at the top of the mountain - she was so sweet. We spent time with an older gentleman who just wanted to talk. They just want to tell people their stories.

Day Two: Home from building the house. Long day. We’re all very very exhausted. We are also all very very sunburnt. We laid bricks today. According to one of the builders I have a real talent for laying brick. 😉 It was beautiful out there and we got to meet the family that we’re building a house for and they are so sweet. The mom who was, I think, nine months pregnant brought ice cream for all of us and served us lunch sandwiches. It was a really good day. The house is small by our standards but standard size here. Three rooms. I think the family has 7 people and the mom is due to give birth this month. The worksite was covered in chickens and little dogs and a kitten adopted me during a break. All around us are beautiful rolling hills of green, sheep, cows, and horses all around with horses and carts going past every once in awhile. It was so beautiful and just a 15 drive from Cluj.

Day Three: Third day down! Was a lot of fun - we worked with the DTS team from Madrid. They are such a fun bunch. And got the walls done on the house today and starting on plastering and insulating it. But it started storming really badly and we all ran for cover. Some in the white van and some in the big green truck with the huge cargo area. So much fun. We sang songs and laughed so much. Back home now, energized from laughter but tired in a good way.
