Firsts

Today was our first day of soccer games and it was so much fun!  Jason played soccer through childhood, high school and then college.  He coached several different high school teams so soccer is in the blood around here.  Doster and Caroline wanted to play soccer this spring and we are trying it out through the YMCA.  Jason is coaching Doster's team, which he is not shy about telling anyone, he is so proud to have his Daddy with him.

Here are a few pictures from the day.  Both did great at goalie (Jason's old position) and great on the field.  Doster cracked me up to the point of tears with his running.  He must think that playing soccer is about running, he put every ounce of energy, expression and sprint into each and every step he ran.  He didn't get too aggressive with the ball in his first game but he sure did RACE to get to the ball.  I couldnt' stop laughing....he is a hoot.

Below there are way too many pictures for the uninterested reader....but their grandparents will enjoy.  ;)

We loved watching Caroline really get into it.  She didn't want to do goalie,
but I think she enjoyed it a bit more than she thought she would.

Goofballs playing at halftime.

I love this picture of her.  I was so proud of Caroline today - it was a big deal to her and she was
nervous last night.  Soccer was a big step and one thing she's always been afraid to try but
something she has always wanted to try.
Good job Sunshine!

After Caroline's 11:30 game we had a picnic lunch and DEVOURED everything I packed.
Then we headed over to Doster and Jason's game.

Hey Mommy - I get to be Goalie!

Just like Daddy!

Hey Kid - I get to be Goalie!

And now I need to hang with my Daddy - he's the Coach you know?

Mommy will love this picture forever.

He did a GREAT job!

Then he switched positions and was on the field...running.

...and running

...and running

See what I mean, he was a hoot.
At this point I was wiping tears of laughter.

SO Doster.

Hey Kid - Did you know my Dad is the Coach?

And my Mommy thinks he's cute?

And she thinks I'm cute too.

  1. These pictures are so cute. I can't wait to see them play in person. I think they are the cutest kids on the teams, but I may not have really done a fair evaluation! Way to go kids! Grandma
