Christmas Time is Here
What a wonderful season. Even though I am hot and not cold (boo) and the weather is not even hinting at a cold Christmas, I feel so festive and ready to celebrate with my family.
Many years we are in the midst of sickness (we were spending 48 hours in Scottish Rite last year at this time), busyness, hardship and other life stuff that takes away our festive feel...the festive feel that should be reminding us of the real reason we are celebrating. Sometimes it is just really hard to get in the mood.
This year we have been doing the Jesse Tree Devotionals each night of Advent along with reading a Christmas book each evening. This focus on Christ and His promise has brought about a much richer Christmas for our family this year. One that I, dare say, we've never experienced before.
I just finished a partial day of record baking, wrapping and preparing for the next few days. I have three more gifts to wrap along with a few food preparations along the way but, other than that, I am ready to enjoy the next week with Jason and the kids....and the rest of our big family.
Our own family traditions begin this year as we experience our first Christmas at home all day. I am excited to begin creating memories that my kids will cherish as I cherish those created in childhood.
My Grandmother and Aunt are here from Iowa, to enjoy Christmas with their Georgia family. I am so excited for my kids to experience Christmas with special visitors that rarely get to travel from Iowa. Yesterday we enjoyed time with Jason's family, relaxing and creating memories together. We'll enjoy a visit from his parents on the 25th and then the 26th brings in North Carolina family and we will all be together to celebrate Christ's birth and the love of one another. I can't wait!
Merry Christmas from our Patch of Flowers.
