3:30 am
Shew, I'm tired! Last week we arrived home from the ER at 3:30 a.m. with Doster and a bout with croup/asthma and now this week we are abruptly woken up with
Caroline saying "Daddy, I can't find Mary Anna."
Up and at 'em!
Last night was Mary Anna's first time to sleep in a Big Girl bed and she was SO excited at bedtime. We tucked her in snug as a bug. We've never used bed rails because, in our experience, one or two tumbles to the floor teach boundaries and it takes care of teaching them how to stay in the bed.
Little did we know...
We explained to Caroline that we'll probably hear Mary Anna if she falls but, if we don't, she can help pick her up and tuck her back in bed. We left the room with both girls giggling softly and loving their first experience sleeping in beds side-by-side.
Back to 3:30 this morning....
we bounded up the stairs and looked EVERYWHERE!
We couldn't find Mary Anna on either side of her bed,
in the closet,
in the office,
in her play closet in the office,
she wasn't in Doster's bed,
we thought she was snuggled in his bean bag but she wasn't there,
the cubby hole was empty...
I was starting to get a bit nervous.
I asked Caroline to check under their beds and
she called out saying she found her!
She must have fallen off the bed, stayed asleep and rolled under her bed, snuggling in.
All you could see was her little face poking out.
Jason picked her up and snuggled her back in bed and she STILL didn't wake up!
When we got up this morning Caroline said she heard her fall out of bed again, sound asleep, and Caroline picked her up and snuggled her back in....without Mary Anna waking up.
So, back to our theory that it only takes a few tumbles to learn the boundaries...
that is if they WAKE up and find discomfort in the tumble!
She's stumped us...if she's going to sleep through it she'll never learn! :)
