Mary Anna's First Birthday Party

I was a bit emotional planning my last First Birthday Party.  This has always been my favorite party to plan as we truly celebrate the birth of our child.  The party also signifies a transition from babyhood to growing up.  I had a lot of fun planning this sweet birthday party and, even though I felt sadness on the day of, I also felt such a sweet joy in the celebration of Mary Anna!

From the beginning I've called Mary Anna my sweet Cherry-on-Top.  As our last child, she just sweetens everything and is the perfect addition to the top of our family pile!  So, naturally, I had fun with the cupcake theme with a sweet cherry-on-top.

I have a picture of each of our children, sitting on the table of their First Birthday spread, sitting sweetly in their cute outfit ready for their big party.  Mary Anna really didn't want to make that last First Birthday picture to be the boring expected picture, she wanted to spice things up a bit.

I have found a vintage Baby Dear for each of our children on their first birthday.  It is a doll that I had as a child and I have loved giving it to each of our children as their first baby doll.

I made Mary Anna a little doll house that is shaped like a cupcake with a cherry on top.  She opened it and immediately tired to eat the frosting and cherry.  She really got what it was and LOVED it.  I was so pleased and was thrilled with such a cute response to the hours of love that went into her toy.

She had so much fun putting the two little baby dolls into the house and closing the door, then taking them out again, then putting them back in again, then taking them out again....

Now we are on to celebrating each day in the new things Mary Anna is learning and doing and stretching herself to accomplish.  We love this sweet precious child the Lord has given to us to raise and are amazed each day at what a wonderful gift she truly is.
