Playtime

This summer we invested in a pool membership at a neighboring subdivision pool. We drove about six minutes to Edenwood and enjoyed many mornings, afternoons and evenings of family fun on the slides, giggles under the sprinkling mushrooms, lots of pb&j's - lemonade & Popsicles, and just floating around together.

I don't think, at this time in our life, we could have invested better than we did on this fun membership. It gave us PLAYTIME. Often, in our busyness, in our striving to raise children who are obedient and respectful, in our schedules with friends and church, in our work roles, and in our everyday duties and responsibilities we can easily forget to play.

Yet, the ages of our children demand playtime.
TIME is what speaks most to them and if you add a little PLAY into that word they are oh-so-happy! It doesn't take piles of toys to show them our love, it doesn't take grand trips to show them our love, and it doesn't take excitement and adventure at every turn...it just takes TIME.

Our last trip to the pool was Mary Anna's first real dip in the water and she loved it!

She loves rubbing Doster's fuzzy head, squeezing his chubby cheeks and pulling on his ears.
Looks like she might be able to hold her own with her big brother!

Just making sure you are back there Daddy!

She loves holding his scratchy chin.

One of my favorite images of the summer!

I am sure, as the years go on, this will be a summer we all remember and treasure. Hopefully this will be a repeated opportunity as Jason and I would give almost anything to recreate such a wonderful summer of memories with our kids.
