Let Them Be Little

On another blog I follow I read the words to the song Let Them Be Little by Billy Dean. It really spoke to me during this time in my life when I am trying to balance correction/discipline and remembering that my children are children and are constantly in a learning process, constantly in a phase they will grow out of and constantly in need of my mind and heart finding this balance in my interaction with them.

It also reminds me to savor these times even though there are days I want to pull my hair out and bury my head back under the covers.

In just a few days Mary Anna will be eight weeks old. With the knowledge that this will probably be my last little baby to bring into this world I am finding myself looking at these precious moments with a slower approach, not constantly searching for the next milestone to be reached but, rather, just enjoying the place we are in and savoring the moments we have in the present phase.

When you have a minute, sit back and enjoy this song and remember to savor these moments when they are little.

If you have another minute, go read this short post and savor...

  1. I guess tears in the middle of the day are a good thing. :)

It is amazing to be in the middle as a parent remembering how fast it went when you kids were little, and as a grandparent seeing how fast it is going with grandchildren.

Savor it all...but even though our children aren't little any more, the days have gotten more and more precious as you have grown older and into our friends.
