Mail Surprise
After the birth of each of our children I have enjoyed receiving a wonderful treat in the mail from my dad's cousins and aunt in Chicago.
Roger and Lilly have two sons and met while working on a cruise ship years ago. How romantic is that? I remember, as a little girl, loving how Roger called me "Flower". He has a wonderful english accent and it came out a little like "Flowwr". Oh, that spelling didn't give it justice at all - just imagine it for yourself. Either way - it thrilled me as a little girl....and now as a married woman with the last name Flowers it rings with such sweet irony.
Aunt Marion is Lilly's mother and was married to Uncle Wayne (my Grandma's brother) who was a world traveler, avid historian and a guide at the Field Museum in Chicago during his older years.
After each child was born I received a box in the mail with a present inside, beautifully wrapped by a department store, with a lovely outfit for each child inside. After Caroline's birth I was thrilled, after Doster's birth I was hoping I would find something in the mail and after Mary Anna's birth I definitely was looking forward to the UPS man visiting my door! Last week the much anticipated box came to cheer my day and it had a cute little outfit in it for next fall...wonderful timing.
The fun thing is that my Mother can remember the same sweet anticipation when my siblings and I were born as she received these precious packages too!
