Weekend Away
Jason and I loved our weekend away right before Thanksgiving. It was a much needed break and we went to a cabin in Ellijay and basically hibernated for 3 days. We watched movies, read books, fished, took pictures, and just enjoyed some quiet time together.
The kids enjoyed their time also as they had individual time with their grandparents. Caroline stayed at my parent's and had fun going to a wedding with Grandma, enjoyed her first lesson in cross stitching, went to a sunday school potluck and had fun just playing with Grandpa and Grandma. As is typical around our house, the day before we left was very hectic as Caroline had 102.5 fever, came home from school early and we headed to the doctor to find out she strep throat. I felt so bad for her as she didn't feel good at all with a horrible headache and a raw throat...but it was the best thing to have as she got her antibiotic and by Saturday morning she was bouncing around as if never sick.
Of course, if one gets it the other is sure to follow and Doster, while spending the weekend with Minnie and Papa, came down with it on Saturday. Luckily our doctor had called in a prescription for him in Jasper - just in case - and we were able to catch it before he got too miserable. Doster enjoyed a walk at the lake, driving the golf cart around in circles, watching the Heffalump movie and having the fun undivided attention of his grandparents for the weekend.
We were proud of both of them for lasting 3 nights without melting down and allowing us our time away, despite their sicknesses.
