catching up...Aquarium and Birthday Evening
I promised these pictures a few weeks ago and I haven't done much blogging since. When Aunt Jeanette, Athena and the kids were here we went to the Atlanta Aquarium. We don't often go to these types of places simply because of cost. We've done the Zoo and the Children's Museum, but that is really all we've experienced with the kids outside of free pumpkin patches and such. (Thanks to our Chick-fil-a connection we got 1/2 price tickets!)
I was really excited to watch the kids, the awe on their faces, and enjoy the day and had looked forward to it for weeks. I discovered something about myself that day. I do not like crowds! I somewhat knew that about myself but on this day it really sunk in. I also discovered that pregnancy hormones and a dislike of crowds do not mix. :) So, it was an amazing day in regards to what the kids experienced and enjoyed, but I think I would do better outside of pregnancy and on a slower day at the Aquarium (but I hear they don't occur often). The kids enjoyed it and did well until the end when they were SO tired and had several meltdowns.
On our way home Grandma suggested Caroline come home to her house for a few hours in the afternoon for some downtime and she enjoyed a deep bath (with candles) followed by hot chocolate and chocolate cake snuggled in on the couch with Grandma watching Anne of Green Gables for the first time. She was much more prepared to come home to all the fun with the cousins after her special downtime with Grandma.
That night, since it was my birthday, Jason made tacos for the whole clan and we enjoyed a fun birthday dinner. Everyone slept VERY well that night!
All in all, it was a great birthday simply because I was enjoying it with family I rarely get to see and my Mother and Sister were with me...and, of course, because my Sweetheart made me my favorite birthday supper!
The next evening we went to my parent's house and Mother made a yummy birthday dinner for Daddy and I (as we share our birthday month). Afterwards Daddy took all the kids for rides around the yard in the wagon. They loved it and never stopped grinning the whole time. The girls also enjoyed the teeter-totter and tree house. Thanks for a fun evening!
