School Days
Our Caroline has really enjoyed school this year and has been quite the little achiever. We've noticed her flying through many of her lessons sent home to work on and decided we needed to have a conference with her teachers to try to find out a little bit about Caroline's day and make sure she is being adequately challenged.
What we found out was much more than we anticipated. Caroline has been tested and is actually reading on a 4th grade level and is, all around, excelling in all her subjects.
We were very pleased with what her teachers are doing to challenge her. She is spending the morning in another teacher's classroom with several other students that are reading well and she enjoys this time, although she says she misses Mrs. Turner, her main teacher.
We are excited for Caroline and are thrilled to learn from her teachers that she is very well balanced socially and academically and that the desire to succeed is not dominating her day.
The Lord is in her little heart and she shines with His love during her days as her gift of compassion and mercy shines through. Both teachers said that she is very drawn to two children in class, one with Downs Syndrome and one with Autism. She plays with them on the playground and is very accepting and not phased by their struggles in the slightest. We see this in her friendship with a little girl in her sunday school class also. We love this gift of acceptance and compassion she is displaying and are reminded of the times when we were told, by nursery workers when she was a toddler, that she was always drawn to the child who was crying or struggling in class. She would walk up to them and rub their back, even at that young age.
They said she is very respectful and were so surprised to hear that is our number one struggle at home. :)
We are so proud of her and are continually amazed that this was that little bundle we brought home from the hospital six years ago.
