Blueberries

Early Friday morning, July 4th, Caroline and I met my sister at our brother and sister-in-law's home just a few miles from ours. Katie, Maggie, Caroline & I had a fun morning picking blueberries from Maggie's three, huge wild blueberry bushes. There are also blackberries and grapes intertwined. Trying to find blueberries, especially organic ones, that are affordable is nearly impossible so picking this free and plentiful fruit was such a treat!

My goal, next summer, is to plant strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and a few vegetables. In preparation, I am going to start a compost pile this summer/fall. I am really excited to find a way to put food on our table that comes from our own land, clean and grown by our hands. I do not have the greenest thumb but I am determined to put food on our table from our backyard so we'll see how successful I really am. :)
