Another wonderful day!
I have no pictures to share today - only my story.
It is our anniversary and we had prevously decided we would lay low as we have been finishing off the bonus room this summer and money is not in plenty. So, I decided I would take the kids to Ikea this morning while Jason had a quiet house to accomplish lots of painting and then I could get some storage items for Doster's new room.
It was a good PLAN...
The normal 50 minute drive took 2 hours as there was an overturned tractor trailer that caught fire. We CRAWLED down 75. Fortunately I had packed the kids breakfast and they were watching Veggie Tales on our wonderful dvd player in the van. It was not an on-purpose purchase when we found our van but it has paid for itself many times over!
Finally we arrive at Ikea, I take each child to the bathroom and head to the childcare room that they love to play in and is such a blessing for Moms trying to shop in peace. Little did I know, the line took TWENTY FIVE minutes to get through, finally put the kids in and off I RAN!
I had a full buggy, my list completely checked off (which is such a wonderful feeling) and was nearing the checkout when my buzzer went off saying one of the children needed me.
If you are familiar with Ikea you know that it is quite a windy treck from the checkout to the play area. Not the typical front and back of the store like you would expect at Wal-mart. This is a very windy and long trek. Typically I get lost each time I am in this store because it is so windy. So, I am quickly pushing my cart to the other side of the warehouse, trying to balance the stack of picture frames I have placed on top of my already-too-big load.
I finally find my way to the play area and the lady says "I just had a question to ask you." WHAT? I was expecting at least a skinned knee to make this worth my while.
This is what she said: "Caroline has told us that Doster is not allowed to watch Cheetah Girls and we keep trying to get him occupied with other things but he keeps yelling NO and going back to the TV. Caroline says he isn't supposed to watch it so we thought we should call you."
My SWEEEET little rule-follower. :-) I told Caroline it was okay, while I was checking out, if Doster happened to look at the TV and I thanked her for being such a great big Sissy.
Now, there is no shortcut back to the other side of the warehouse so I started on the aforementioned horrible route to get to the checkout lines. I checked out, went and got the kids and headed home.
I THOUGHT the excitement was over.
I have anxiously been waiting for our co-op order to arrive as it was being shipped to my house this time because Katie is in Chicago. FInaly, Christmas arrived today and the FedEx man came to my door with a BIG HEAVY box! I was so excited. I bought it into the Keeping Room and sat down on the rug to sort through everyone's goodies. I didn't get too far when I realized that something had leaked - - all over. After some investigation and pulling items out, I realized a bottle of cleaner and a bottle of bleach had spilled throughout the entire box. Needless to say, I quickly moved everything off the rug, which looks okay, and started sorting through wet cardboard boxes and items that had been ruined.
Now everything is cleaned up, kids are thankfully still in rest time and nap time and I can compose myself before the house becomes hectic.
Happy Anniversary Sweetie! (9 years ago this moment I was doing something VERY different with my day!)
