Day with Grandpa

My kids are so blessed in that they have grandparents that live just a few miles away. During the summer this is especially nice as it is easy for Grandpa to stop by when he is out of school. Last night Grandpa called Caroline asking her if she would go to school with him today and help him clean out his classroom with a stop by McDonald's for breakfast first. She could barely contain her excitement, even forgetting that Grandpa was on the phone because she had to tell me all about her plans.

This morning she was up early and ready to go. Grandpa was supposed to be here at 8:30 and Caroline was sitting by the front window watching for him at 7:55. :-)

Grandpa showed up with Doster's favorite treat from Grandpa and Grandma - chocolate milk and donuts! His little body just shook with excitement. We sat on the front porch and waved to Sissy as she was leaving for her special day while Doster ate a few of his donuts.

Donut dust around his little lips. Great treat Grandpa!

  2. I'm so happy that you live close to your folks. Happy for you, your kids, and your folks. We too are blessed to be only five miles from Sarah, Dave, and the boys. How neat that Kyle did something special for both kids. Caroline looks like she is waiting for a date!

  3. As I called and talked to Grandpa and Caroline throughout the day, the menu for the day was this:
    Breakfast: cinnamon roll at McDonalds
Lunch: Chicken strips and ice cream at McDonalds (of course I asked what happened to Chick-fil-A?)
    Dinner: M&M's

Now that is a Grandpa day! When I got home from work, I added a pb&j sandiwch cut like a house...door, window, chimeny, and of course, NO crust!

I know they had fun, Caroline was tired and beamed at her day of running errands with Grandpa in the pick-up! Sweet!

  4. well first i have to say that i am unusually curious about the comment that has been deleted...i havent had to deal with that yet. But really i came on here to say that i think the chocolate milk thing is so cute. Jay's dad has stocked yoohoos (is that how you spell it, i dont drink them) since before any of the kids were born.
