Denver

Jason and I adopted a puppy 11 years ago while we were dating. Denver came from a pound in Carrollton and he fit in the palm of Jason's hand. He was way too young to be away from his mother. He was such a tiny precious little guy and we loved the time we spent with him through the years of our courtship. Denver lived with Jason in his little parsonage in West Point and was the hit of Jason's youth group.

When we were married Denver was often a visitor inside the house and we have so many memories of the three of us playing and snuggling in those early years. When we moved to an apartment in Acworth Denver was an inside dog and my guard dog when Jason worked late hours as a car salesman. These were the months that Denver and I really bonded as he was such a fierce protector if anything seemed amiss outside the apartment door and yet he was also so sweet and snuggly and spent many hours at my feet while I was studying for my classes.

When we moved to John Wesley Denver didn't get as much attention as he was an outside dog. For many years we hated how much separation there was compared to our early years with him. Yet, he was still faithful. When Caroline was born Denver wouldn't have anything to do with me, which broke my heart, because there was someone else taking over his time, his love, and his attention. Through the years he has warmed back up and adores the kids.

Now that we are in our new home we are anxious to spend these last years of Denver's life loving on him and enjoying our faithful pet. He isn't back in the fence away from the housenow, he will be laying in the sun on the back decks, relaxing and enjoying the dog treats and love from the back door.

  1. How precious our animal friends can be to us... I truely believe God gives them to us to be our keepers, and friends.... He has such a soft bear look in his facial expressions....
